Instagram has its own QR codes built in: open your profile, tap the menu, choose “QR code”, and you can share or save a code for your profile (posts and reels have one in their share menu too). If all you need is a quick code to show on your phone, that is the simplest option and you don't need us.
This generator helps when you need more than that: a code in your brand colors with your logo, a “Follow us” call to action, vector files (SVG, PDF, EPS) that print sharply on menus, packaging and posters, or a dynamic code. A dynamic code points to a short link you can change later, for example from your profile to a giveaway post and back, and it counts scans by day, country and device.
How to make one
- Paste your profile link, for example https://www.instagram.com/yourname/ (or the link to a post or reel).
- Pick colors (or the Instagram template), add your logo and the “Follow us” frame, and check that the preview still test-scans.
- Scan it with your own phone, then download SVG or PDF for print, or PNG for screens.
Static vs dynamic: which do you need?
| Feature | Static (free) | Dynamic (paid) |
|---|---|---|
| Price on CandorQR | Free forever | Pro $7/mo ($59/yr), Business $15/mo ($129/yr) |
| Edit the destination after printing | No | Yes |
| Scan analytics | No | Daily scans, country, device (no IPs stored) |
| Works without our servers | Yes | No, uses a short redirect link |
| Expiry | Never | While subscribed, plus 12 months after cancel |
| Account needed | No | Yes |
Tips for codes that always scan
- Use your profile URL rather than a post if the code will be printed for a long time: posts can be archived or deleted.
- Instagram usernames can change. If you might rename the account, use a dynamic code so printed codes can be redirected.
- Keep strong contrast (dark code on a light background). Instagram-style gradients look great but test-scan them before printing.
FAQ
Doesn't Instagram already make QR codes?
Yes. Instagram's built-in QR code (profile menu › QR code) is free and fine for sharing from your phone. Use CandorQR when you want your own design and logo, print-quality vector files, a code you can redirect later, or scan statistics.
Will the code open the Instagram app?
On most phones, yes: scanning an instagram.com link opens the Instagram app if it is installed, and the website otherwise.
Can I see how many people scanned my Instagram QR code?
Static codes can't be tracked, by us or anyone else. A dynamic code (1 free with an account, more on Pro) counts scans by day, country and device type without cookies or IP addresses.
Can I change where the code points after printing?
Only with a dynamic code. A static code contains the Instagram link itself and can't be changed.
