Customers scan the code and WhatsApp opens a chat with you. They don't need to save your number first. You can pre-fill a first message, such as “Hi, I'd like to book a table”, so you know where the lead came from.
The code uses WhatsApp's official click-to-chat link (wa.me), which works for personal and WhatsApp Business accounts on iOS, Android and desktop.
How to make one
- Enter your full phone number with country code, for example +1 415 555 0100.
- Optionally write the message that appears in the chat box.
- Download the code and add it to flyers, shop windows, packaging or your website.

Tips for codes that always scan
- Leave out leading zeros and symbols after the country code. We remove spaces and dashes automatically.
- Use a different pre-filled message for each flyer or location to see which one brings chats.
- Test with a phone that doesn't have your number saved, to check it works for new customers.
FAQ
Does the customer need to save my number?
No. The wa.me link opens a chat directly, even when the number isn't in their contacts.
Does this work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. Click-to-chat links work with both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers.
Can I change the number later?
Static codes can't be changed. Use a dynamic code if your number or message may change.
